Who We Are
We are a Cab Facilitator, connecting the passengers with the licenced Minicab and Taxi service providers in the UK, with best interests of both parties.
That sentence sums up what we do. Thornton Heath Minicabs is a booking service for people who need a car in and around Thornton Heath, Croydon and south London. We do not run our own fleet or employ drivers directly. Instead, we work as an agent: we take your booking and link it with a licensed private hire operator who carries out the journey.
Why Work This Way?
Working with licensed operators lets us offer more choice than a single small office could. Saloons, executive cars, 6 seater MPVs and 7 to 8 seater MPVs can all be booked in one place. It also means bookings can be taken at any hour, including bank holidays, early mornings and late nights.
For passengers, the benefit is simple: one place to book, a fixed quote before you confirm, and a licensed car and driver for the journey. For operators, it is a steady flow of bookings. We try to look after the best interests of both parties.
How a Booking Works
- You enter your journey in the booking form or call us.
- You see a fixed quote and confirm the booking.
- Your booking is passed to a licensed private hire operator.
- The operator's driver collects you at the agreed time and place.
Licensing in London
In London, private hire operators, drivers and vehicles are licensed by Transport for London (TfL). Licensed drivers have to pass checks including an enhanced DBS background check and a medical. Licensed vehicles are inspected. The operators we work with hold their own licences, and the contract for your journey is with the operator who carries it out. A quick note on words: in London, "taxi" usually means a licensed black cab, while "minicab" means a pre-booked private hire car. We use both words on this website because people search for both, but all the journeys we arrange are pre-booked private hire journeys.
